About Me

I create sculptural ceramic vessels inspired by the shifting relationship between landscape, memory and emotional response. Using contours as a foundation, my forms distil the landscape into its essential structures, while surface treatments - from coloured clay to expressive mark-making - explore the rhythms, textures and atmospheres of place. My work sits between the graphic and the organic, the controlled and the intuitive, reflecting my background in design and my drive to create objects that evoke a sense of connection, familiarity and reflection. This new direction in my work has evolved through my ongoing MA studies at The University of Lancashire, where I am expanding my research into place, memory and material expression.

My name . . .

‘Shenac’ is a Gaelic name from the Highlands of Scotland, my family and friends pronounce ‘She-na’ with a silent ‘c’.

I recently discovered the book where my mother found my name - ‘Shenac’ which was published in 1868 by Margaret Murray Robertson, a Scottish born teacher and writer.
