I have stumbled across a French landscape architect cum photographer Cedric Pollet and wow! This is definitely one book I will be ordering ‘BARK, An Intimate Look at the World’s Trees’ the photographs he has taken of tree bark from across the world are absolutely stunning.

I have already started to photograph tree bark, lichen and mosses found in my own garden, however this is inspiring me to really start to create my own catalogue of images for study and my interpretation into my own ceramics work.

Based on my sketchbook work over the last couple of months and my growing interest in tree forms, pattern, colour and texture which can be found on even the most common of trees here in the UK, could this be an emerging area of study for my MA?
