Stand & Deliver - glazing

5 December 2024

Phew! Everything survived the bisque firing!

Spent today painting oxides and glazing some of the final pieces for the Stand & Deliver mini project:

  • Corrugated tin round form:

Painted a layer of iron oxide (yellow) all over the vessel form and lid.

Wiped back in random areas with a sponge.

Applied a layer of stoneware titanium white glaze with a sponge, to emphasis the distressed feel trying to achieve.

At the same time I applied iron oxide (yellow) to 2 bisque fired test tiles which had been painted with a white slip before firing - 1 x with a solid coated of oxide, 1 x with oxide which had been wiped off in places. Then I applied a layer of stoneware titanium white glaze with a sponge.

  • Cogs:

Glazed all 3 cogs with earthenware white gloss, this will then give me the option to use these as part of the display area for food

  • Beaker:

Glazed inside and around the rim with stoneware transparent glaze, with a brush stroke and splashes of glaze on the outside.
