About Me
Here is a brief insight into what I do, and how I reached where I am today, and doing what I love most.
Originally from Cheshire, I am a UK artist based in Warwickshire creating figurative and abstract hand built ceramic sculptures.
My background and interests have always been in design and graphics, studying graphic design at Coventry University (Lanchester Polytechnic).
Over the years this passion has developed across many areas of contemporary art and crafts, and more recently into ceramics.
My artistic practice began with large floral ink paintings and bold contemporary linocuts exploring urban and rural landscapes and still-life compositions.
I now specialise in capturing those incidental, intimate everyday moments of life, and am currently exploring figurative and abstract hand built ceramic forms.
In particular I create enigmatic ceramic figure heads; ones which are familiar to us, yet ambiguous. All my sculptures are hand-built using a range of techniques, with each figure head creation having its own characteristic features giving a sense of subtle familiarity and narrative.
I am proud to say that in 2015 I was elected to full membership of the Royal Birmingham Society of Artists (RBSA), one of the oldest art societies in the UK. In addition, I am also a member of the Crafts Council Directory.
